Rough Few Sessions

I'm on a 5 of 6 session losing streak, losing a net $90. That combined with the $60 I transferred to Mrs. PokerShark (which vanished in about an hour--bad beats a plenty) puts one hell of a dent into my bankroll. Last few sessions, I just can't seem to get a card for anything. Variance is a real bitch. That coupled with Domenic's move to 2/4 and bankroll increase to over $700 puts me in a hell of a sour poker mood. Congrats, Dom, by the way. Don't color me as being bitter. I've genuinely happy for you. I just get fairly pissed when I'm playing solid poker and either a) being outdrawn, or b) missing flops with premium hands.

Recent Stats in Losing Streak:

VP$IP: 15.63
Amount Won: -$90.00 (-11.55BB/100)
PF Raise: 3.13
WtSD: 25.00
Won$atSD: 33.33
Aggression Factor Post-Flop: 1.85

And for the joke of all jokes: Premium hands (AA-77, AK, AQ, AJ, AT, KQ, KJ, KT, QJ, QT) dealt: 27 of 288. I've expanded the definition of premium hands just to show the ridiculousness of the hands dealt.

Between that and being sucked out on, it's hard to be real up on the merits of my game right now. I'm basically down $150 in 3 days. This is a TON of variance for a guy who is TAA, plays solid ABC poker, and is a consistent winner.

Overall Numbers:

VP$IP: 20.65
Winnings: $106.25 (3.14BB/100)
PF Raise: 5.71
WtSD: 35.11
W$atSD: 52.53
Aggression Factor Post Flop: 2.46

I'm really not playing any differently than normal, IMHO. Tighter, if anything, and that's mostly because I've been card dead. I'm going to walk away for a few days. Also ordered Ed Miller's Small Stakes Holdem. I'm not an Amazon affiliate, so if you want it, go look for it :-). I'll read through that (after reading Sklansky, and Harrington for NL tourneys), and see what happens.

...And now for the Non-Poker portion of our show...

Sunday was Mrs. PokerShark's bridal shower, and all-in-all, it was a rousing success. Lots of nice stuff for the upcoming wedding (July 23, thanks for asking), and a nice time for a truly deserving bride-to-be. I'm really fortunate to have a woman in my life that is as understanding as she is. I can be difficult to deal with sometimes, with not really loving my real job much, and being a maniacal sports fan, but she takes it all in stride, and we're finally getting married--on our 12th anniversary. Yes, I know, it's about time. Between school and personal things, marriage wasn't a priority until we both looked up and realized that time slows for no one. I just turned 30, and we want children some time, and I want to be able to play with them without dying, so...the time was now. We've lived together for almost 3 years, and it feels like we're already married. We work well as a team, we love, honor, and respect each other...Things are good. So even on those days that poker isn't the great game it's cracked up to be, I know that as long as I don't gamble with the mortgage money, I always have someone who loves me to provide a shoulder to cry on and an ear to listen. Thanks, honey...
